Gut Healthy Green Smoothie

Surprisingly enough, I have never been one to take vitamins or supplements.  I always believed that we should try to meet our vitamin requirements through food. There is no better way to get in nutrients then by actually eating or drinking them. Which is why I’m so excited to have partnered with GoodBelly to bring you my next gut-healthy Probiotic Smoothie.Unlike most probiotic drinks GoodBelly is always dairy free, vegan, soy free, kosher, and Non GMO Project Verified. It is a probiotic juice or oat drink with 20 billion live and active probiotic cultures per serving. I recently saw my endocrinologist who keeps an eye on my bones to make sure I can continue to swim, bike and run strong. She pulled out a study showing me the benefits of ingesting probiotics together with calcium and how the probiotics help the absorption of the calcium. She is also a big believer in “eating” your vitamins, so she is always sharing tips like this with me.

Being dairy-free sometimes makes it difficult to get in my daily dose of probiotics. I especially love GoodBelly because some of their products come in little single shots, making it easier to incorporate them into your everyday diet. I found the hardest thing about the challenge was remembering to take the shot. But after the first few days it was easy. I had it the same time everyday (with breakfast because I usually eat that meal at home). I absolutely loved the taste and the way it made me feel. At first I didn’t feel much of a difference, but by the 7th day I totally did. I love adding it to this cleansing smoothie and starting my day with greens, fresh fruit and probiotics. GoodBelly is slightly tart just like traditional yogurt. So it plays really well with the sweetness of the fruit. I even added a little lemon juice to help with inflammation and enhance digestion. All around this smoothie will keep your gut and body healthy. Give it a try and let me know what you think, but more importantly let me know how you feel!Recipe Serves 1-2:

  • 1 cup spinach (frozen or fresh)
  • 1 cup mango (frozen or fresh)
  • 1 green apple
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup water or nut milk
  • 1 unsweetened GoodBelly Shot
  1. In a high speed blender combine all ingredients until smooth for about one minute. Once combined serve right away.
